dB
-
deciBel. Measurement of power relative to a known signal
dBm
-
Decibels measure, 1 mW with a load impedance of 600 ohm (0 dBm=1 mW)
DC
-
Direct Current
DCS
-
Digital Coded Squelch. Functions the same as CTCSS, but uses a 3-digit octal code [000~777], sent as a binary encoded 23-bit word at 134.3 baud
Distress frequency
-
A frequency or channel specific for use in distress calling. Maritime distress frequency is 156.8 MHz (16 marine channel)
DSC
-
Digital Selective Calling. DSC is a technique used on marine radio systems to replace or supplement calling the other station by voice. It permits other vessels to be called up by keying in a unique identity number known as the MMSI. It also provides a button that will generate a distress alert identifying the vessel in distress, the nature of the problem and a position derived from a GPS. DSC is an integral part of GMDSS
DSQ
-
The same as DCS
DTCS
-
Digital Tone Coded Squelch. A Selective call system
DTMF
-
Dual Tone Multi-Frequency. Used for transmit/receive numeric information
